Whither Replacement?

An image of an old kerosene lamp, called a replacement lamp.

Yesterday I got ahead of myself & told you why the theme of this week's show is "replacement." But I'll tell you again. It's because I had originally planned that theme for last week, right when I was getting back from vacation. The joke would be that I had gone away & been replaced. But I had only two days to prepare that show & I was unable to do that. So that's the theme this week - kinda devoid of the context.

It has been hard to find images that can mean "replacement" tho. The one above is in the public domain, & the website calls it a "high-resolution photo of light, antique, old, lantern, shine, lamp, lampshade, lighting, light fixture, mood, replacement lamp, kerosene lamp, scattered light." I wasn't sure exactly what a replacement lamp was, & there are no real answers on the internets. This website has an article about "finding replacement lamps" but it doesn't specify a kind of lamp called a "replacement lamp," it's just a lamp that replaces another one.

In any event, I don't have any songs about replacement lamps so it shouldn't matter.

What almost matters is that there's a Self Help Radio with the theme "replacement" on the radio tonight, midnight to 2am, on KBOO - which airs at 90.7fm in Portland & online at kboo dot fm. & it may be a self-fulfilling prophecy because I know for sure I am not irreplaceable!
