On September 14, 1914, Mae Boren Axton was born. A Texas-born, Oklahoma-raised songwriter, she would come to greatest fame as a co-author of "Heartbreak Hotel," the song which gave Elvis Presley his first number one hit. But she wrote so many other songs, & became such an integral part of Music City, that she went on to become known as "The Queen Mother Of Nashville."

Tomorrow on the Dickenbock Report on XRAY, we'll celebrate her birthday with her many songs, & maybe play more than one version of "Heartbreak Hotel." That Sunday, September 14, from noon to 1pm, on 91.1+107.1fn in Portland, xray dot fm everywhere.
